It's been a nice couple of weeks. No rain, though. It's been very cool in the mornings, and warming to the upper 70s to low mid 80's. Very reasonable for August in Iowa. We haven't had more than 4 days with a temp above 90 degrees!

The humidity is very high, making it feel at least 90. This morning, (4-5am) lightning filled the Northern sky, it less strikey and more flashy. The clouds were striped dark blue and DARKER navy blue, with the normal regular sky in the background....with a large thunderstorm complex that was vividly moving west to east, north of us.

I drive North to take my mom to work at 6am so seeing this storm was amazing. This particular storm did not cause Davenport any rain, I got a few pictures also.

There is a cold front dropping in from the North, I think an upper level low, and hopefully we get a thunderstorm out of it!

Cold front coming from the North will be rustling up our atmosphere and giving us thunderstorms, hopefully it's thunder, lightning and wind instead of a monsoon...

It's very humid out (it never stopped rising from yesterday) very noticeable when sun is out.

We've got some storms forming from the South and West but they won't arrive here until afternoon, most likely.

3pm There is a large complex of thunderstorms that are moving from the West but it's broken up and they're not in a squall line or anything (yet) One large storm moved straight North of us gliding by from west to east- the only thing I got to see was the dark blue clouds..it was so stormy looking it made my day!

~It has finally started to rain, and it's 7:37pm. Thats fine....no storms, just basically light rain and lightning. Eh.

Another perfect day! Sunny and warm. You (my hair) can tell the humidity is rising, I am not a fan of humidity, but I suppose it needs to be around. There is a slight breeze but it's on that scale noche of "tree leaves rustle".

I'm going to update later even though I'm sure they'll be nothing to update ON...

The weather has thankfully been calm and dry the past few days. Can we stay lucky?

7pm. Nothing has changed except for the clouds have made an exit for a truly perfect (little on the hot side) day!

On Sunday we kept having near miss thundershowers. It was very nice to see the bright blue sky underneath the deep dark rain clouds. At one point there was a rain cloud west of Davenport and you could see the rain falling from the sky about a mile wide in the distance. I took some pictures!

Today is gorgeous again. Cool start, about 57degrees and then sunshine. The fluffy white clouds are floating around suppossedly it's going to cloud up more but who cares? The warmth of the summer is good enough for me and sometimes the full sun hurts my eyes. Right now it's about 80 degrees and I think it's perfect.

Right now it's gorgeous outside. A perfect summer morning with full sunshine and it's cool, non - humid. We will see how it ends, it's only 9am:)

Today started off chilly with some light rains, around 4am. There was lightning & thunder, I should know I was watching it from the front porch.

The cold front is still west of Des Moines, and it's six pm. The anticipated heavy rains will not happen (this is good). We don't need any more rain, we're soaked to the bone here in Iowa.

I really love the structure and the development of a thunderstorm but these days they're getting more violent. It's hitting close to home ("oh it'll never happen to us") and Parkersburg<3> is a harsh example.

The day started off as sunny, and chilly, not cold. It was in the thirties, and it probably didn't reach the high of 52, but it was in the fourties and it was decent. It got cloudy in the early afternoon.
***Aurora Lights*** We had a huge solar flare yesterday (Thursday) and it was so strong that it actually broke into our atmosphere and caused some "Northern Lights"! They could be seen as south as Kansas. Those are some strong particles. It's going to get colder and snowy in a few days, but not before tommorrow and it's suppossed to be sunny and in the mid to upper fifites. HELLO SPRING!

It's cloudy but mild. It's also damp. It feels like springtimes' showers and chillyness. We can expect to keep this for the next few days until reality blows in and reminds us it's almost Christmas.

The past few days have been sunny and cold. We are suppossed to have a slight warm up happening this weekend, temperatures in the forties! That will be like a summer heat wave compared to our current anarctica temps. Today will only reach the mid thirties, but tommorrow and Monday, thru Wednesday will be in the mid fourties! With spring-like rain, of course.

The temperature was above freezing so everything is melting somewhat but the problem with this is a cold front bringing wind and lower temps is approaching this afternoon. It will turn the water on the road to ice again! I hope this doesn't cause any major problems, right now it is sunny and even feels "warm" compared to what it has been.

Luckily it has been sunny. This morning the windchill was negative two. Combine with the early morning, brisk wind and snow covered ground, it was Anarctica cold! (I would be a little depressed if it happened to be cloudy) It is suppossed to "warm" up to the mid-30's by the middle of the week, and how sad is it when that is exciting news?

Seven inches of snow is what this storm left us, the first day of December. The sun came out shortly after ten, and it remained sunny throughout the whole day. The ground was still warm from the sixty degrees we had earlier that week, that the snow seemed to melt and turn packed and heavy at the bottom, while the top few inches stayed fluffier. It was hard to shovel, and it turned so cold last night everything FROZE. It was single digits this morning. We have sun today, but no melting whatsoever. Everything is "dirty" looking, with the dirt and gravel combinding with the plowed streets. We look forward to simple but cold weather the next few days.

A monsterous snowstorm is billowing it's way up to my town and it should arrive tonight. The temp is ARCTIC now and this is such a shock considering it was "springtime" just a week ago. The winds are picking up and it's the calm before the storm. Snow is wierd, it's not as easy to track as rain is on radars, and with the wind it carries easily! Considering we are an el nino year, lets hope the weather people are correct when they say it's typical for one or two big snows and then thats it!
